Taoyuan, celebrating its sustainability initiatives, will present the city’s achievements and future goals in the upcoming 2022 Smart City Summit & Expo (SCSE) taking place March 22-25 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center.
Since Taoyuan’s pledge in 2015 to transform itself into a sustainable “Modern Metropolis,” the fast-growing city has implemented various strategies and programs, such as incorporating 5G, IoT and big data in the city’s data analysis and decision-making process. The theme of this year’s Expo is “Smart Sustainability,” where the city government will divide itself into eight areas in a dedicated pavilion focusing on topics such as “Safety, Environment, Governance, Transportation, Construction, Economy, Health, and Culture and Education.”
The Taoyuan City Government has taken an active approach in utilizing information technology to become a smarter city. The Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) recognized the city’s continuous efforts in developing potential smart applications and named Taoyuan Top 1 of the Intelligent Community of 2019, over other cities in Canada, the US, and Australia. With its prompt response to create and implement digital synergies to control the COVID-19 pandemic, the city government won the “Digital Government Award” of ASOCIO ICT Award in 2021.
As the 2022 Smart City Summit & Expo co-organizer, Taoyuan is hosting the “Sustainable City Forum” on March 23. The theme of this year’s forum is “Towards a Sustainable Diversified City in the Post-COVID-19 era.” The city will share insights on these intertwined aspects of net-zero emissions with public and private sector representatives among 400+ global communities worldwide, including top officials of relevant international organizations dedicated to sustainability such as ICLEI, IGES, WeGo, and others.
