WYNWOOD, Miami, FL, June 26, 2019 - Innovative transportation companies from across the globe came together in Miami’s Wynwood Art District this week to announce a major conference that will advance mobility across South Florida and the world: CoMotion MIAMI, set to take place April 2nd and 3rd, 2020 in Wynwood.
This event, with broad public sector support including the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners, Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation & Public Works and Wynwood Business Improvement District (BID), cements Miami-Dade County as a leading global hub of the emerging transportation world, especially in the autonomy and urban aerial mobility spaces. CoMotion, organizers of the acclaimed CoMotion LA mobility event in Los Angeles and NewCities Foundation, an international nonprofit and think-tank dedicated to shaping a better urban future, selected Miami-Dade from a highly competitive pool of global cities due in part to its unique position as one of the world’s most diverse and dynamic cities as well as a forward-looking technology hub making strides in defining how people will get around the cities of tomorrow.
Speaking at a CoMotion MIAMI kick-off event in Wynwood on June 25th which featured senior executives from technology and mobility companies including Audi, Cruise Automation, Ford, Parsons, Verizon, and Via, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Giménez said, “Miami-Dade County is becoming a major technology center. We now have the highest number of start-up companies in the nation. This means we are at the forefront of change and innovation, and that tradition continues with our leading role in shaping the future of mobility. With a strong history of working with the private sector, we’re excited to welcome CoMotion to Miami, to present our shared vision for mobility in the years to come.”
John Rossant, CEO of CoMotion and Chairman of the NewCities Foundation said, “Miami-Dade County is absolutely the natural choice for launching our second major new mobility event after CoMotion LA. Miami-Dade County has opened its doors to mobility innovators from around the country and around the world -- and the pro-business environment of Florida makes the city one of the most dynamic and exciting hubs of new mobility in the world.”
Albert Garcia, Co-Chairman of the Wynwood BID said, “Wynwood is a hub for innovation and creative businesses that are driving innovation throughout the Americas so, it’s the ideal place to host the first-ever CoMotion MIAMI. We look forward to welcoming the world’s top transportation and technology companies to Wynwood for this prestigious event next year.”
CoMotion MIAMI takes place April 2nd and 3rd, 2020 in Miami’s Wynwood Business Improvement District and will convene over 500 stakeholders across industry, government, academics, and media, with a broad array of participating startups and corporations spanning the globe. Details for the event will be announced in the coming months.
