Feuerborn leads operations of growing five-state division, including seven offices and nearly 500 employees
LOS ANGELES (June 11, 2019) – HNTB’s Wayne Feuerborn has been named president of the firm’s West Division, overseeing vital and complex infrastructure programs in growth markets, including rail/transit, tolling and aviation. He is based at the firm’s expanding California headquarters in downtown Los Angeles.
“The firm’s West Division has experienced significant success and continues to build strong momentum in our core market sectors,” said John Friel, PE, HNTB West Region president. “I am confident that we will continue our positive trend under Wayne’s leadership as trusted advisers to our infrastructure clients.”
As West Division president, Feuerborn is responsible for leading operations and strategic planning in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Hawaii and Nevada, and overseeing seven offices, numerous field offices and nearly 500 professionals. He actively represents HNTB in civic- and industry-related associations, helps recruit top talent to the firm, and fosters relationships with clients and thought leaders.
Feuerborn succeeds Art Hadnett, senior vice president, who now serves as the regional growth officer. Hadnett also is based in Los Angeles.
Feuerborn has served HNTB for 18 years in a number of roles, most recently as office leader for HNTB’s Central U.S. offices in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Iowa. Offices under his leadership during this period doubled sales in three years and increased revenue by double digits each year. He also implemented an office employee engagement and communications plan that has become a model for the firm.
Feuerborn has extensive experience with urban design projects, corridor and master planning, economic development planning, growth management policies, and community participation facilitation. Prior to joining HNTB, he worked for the Kansas City, Missouri, Planning and Development Department and Baltimore County, Maryland, Office of Planning.
Feuerborn earned an MBA from University of Baltimore. He holds two master’s degrees in urban planning and architecture and a bachelor’s degree in architecture, all from the University of Kansas.
HNTB has been involved in some of the region’s most high-profile, complex infrastructure programs that are reshaping the West. The firm’s many signature infrastructure projects in the region include the San Francisco 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium, the Interstate 405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements project in California, Seattle’s Sound Transit University Link light-rail and tunnel project, the Tom Bradley International Terminal Expansion for Los Angeles World Airports, and the “Green Build” expansion at San Diego International Airport.
Currently, HNTB is working with the City of Los Angeles to deliver final design and construction support services for the Sixth Street Bridge over the Los Angeles River between downtown and Boyle Heights. The firm also is providing design and engineering services for the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project on behalf of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Additionally, HNTB is the lead architect on the fixed facilities, stations and maintenance facility for the new automated people mover being built at Los Angeles International Airport.
