In the third Inland Empire Regional Mobility Dialogue of 2019, experts address how Smart City concepts can improve transportation
ONTARIO, Calif. (June 10, 2019) – In its second year, the Regional Mobility Dialogue Series of the Leonard Transportation Center at Cal State San Bernardino is presenting six dialogues on topics relevant to the future of transportation in the Inland Empire. The series is open to the public and sponsored by HNTB Corporation, a national infrastructure solutions firm, and the San Bernardino International Airport. This year’s third dialogue will be on June 25, 2019, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1755 Waterman Avenue, San Bernardino.
In this session, titled “Integrating Smart City Concepts into Local Transportation Infrastructure,” attendees will hear from three noted experts:
Jason Anderson – CEO, Cleantech San Diego
Kjeld Lindsted – Product manager, NoTraffic
Adrian Pearmine - National director of smart cities and connected vehicles, DKS Associates
Following the presentations, attendees will engage in a discussion with an opportunity to share their concerns and ideas with transportation professionals, policy makers and each other. Transportation experts from HNTB will facilitate this discussion and bring their experience and expertise to benefit the dialogue.
Technology is making it possible for everyone, and everything, to be connected. Cities have begun to harness the power of this “internet of things” technology through the creation of Smart City projects. In the realm of transportation, these concepts are being leveraged to take on the challenges of improving mobility, reducing traffic congestion, improving safety and improving the environment.
The upcoming dialogue will particularly look at the ways the Inland Empire can adopt Smart City concepts to address these challenges in our own unique setting. The panel of experts will provide an in-depth look at the general concept of Smart Cities and provide a look into different initiatives being undertaken by municipalities and businesses in our region.
As part of CSUSB, the Leonard Transportation Center is interested in bringing people together to provide the facts, discuss the major issues and work to resolve them. The center is committed to the notion that finding solutions to the mobility challenges in Southern California is much more likely when people from different walks of life are engaged in the conversations.
Kimberly Collins, LTC executive director, said, “We invite anyone interested in being part of the conversation and solution to join us for this innovative and engaging series.”
The cost for the dialogues is $25 per session, $10 for students. Registration fees cover a continental breakfast and conference materials. Parking is free. Attendance is limited to the first 50 registrants, so early registration is recommended. To register, click here.
